Where recall information comes from
We compare the products you save with recalls published by these sources, about every 6 hours.
| Source | What we use | Language |
|---|---|---|
| Government of Canada, Recalls and Safety Alerts (Health Canada consumer products and drugs, Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Transport Canada child car seats): open data feed and notice pages, https://recalls-rappels.canada.ca | Notice titles, hazard and remedy text, identifiers (barcodes, model numbers, DIN), dates, links | English and French, as published; never machine-translated |
| U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), https://www.saferproducts.gov | Consumer product recalls | English only |
| U.S. Food and Drug Administration (openFDA), https://open.fda.gov | Food and drug enforcement reports, limited to infant and children's products | English only |
A recall from a U.S. source says it applies in the U.S.; the product sold in Canada may differ. Every recall card links to the original notice. If anything in the app differs from the original notice, follow the original notice.

What we add
Where a summary is shown, it is labelled "Summary by Tot Recall". For Transport Canada car seat recalls we build a short title from the notice's make, model and years. We never change the government's instructions on what to do.
Photos
Photos on recall cards are loaded from the source's servers, not copied by us. You can turn this off in Settings. Photos remain the property of their sources and are shown here for information, with a link to the original notice.
No logos
We do not use government logos, crests, maple leaves or government colours.
